Guided Dental Implant Surgery
Advances in digital technologies allow virtual planning and the fabrication of highly accurate surgical guides that facilitate precise implant positioning. This is done via a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) with a radiographic guide that can later be converted to a surgical guide.
There are some obvious advantages of surgical guides, namely:
- Flapless approach to placement of implant, therefore less post surgical bleeding and faster healing.
- Customized guide for each patient.
- Ideal placement of implant considering available bone.
- Improved patient confidence in the procedure
Guided implant surgery is often done on patients demand or when the dentist wants to confirm the placement of implant prior to drilling.
